the songs are in your eyes
i see them when you smile
i've had enough of romantic love
i'd give it up
yeah i'd give it up
for a miracle drug
would i? would you? i've had more than enough of romantic love, but would i give it up? is there romantic love out there that is worth it? lately i think we should all just forget it and try to save the world instead.

I'm guessing the bold is the song by U2. I also like the song although i hold different perpectives about it.
For instance;
"I've had enough of romantic love" This tells me that a person who feels romantic love is complied/must search for that substitute/substance hence the "drug" in order to feel something more.
Good post nonetheless, a title that reflects your belief is the only thats missing
i'll add a title. from what i understand of the story behind the song, it really is about progress being made in medecine, and the grace of god being manifested in medecine. the way i see it, there is greater love than purely romantic love. not to say that romantic love cannot be couple with a "more noble" love. bono expresses a similar sentiment in A Man and a Woman.
I was more of a "I still havent found what im looking for" person :P
moving right on! romantic love...not much i can say about it, saving the world seems more effective generally. but how can you compare effectiveness of a better tomorrow to your personal fulfillment in life and love?
i guess i don't find personal fulfillment in romantic love. which is a bit of a paradox, because i am dating a guy that i really like, and have romantic feelings for. frankly, romantic love seems to be more of an accessory to me at the moment, only good when combined with personal fulfillment in other arenas.
the most important word is "romantic". I mean even in relationships there's got to be more than romance. But then if we are talking about "love" rather than "romantic love", then I don't think giving it up for science is even worth a thought. I tend to think that a world without love is a world not worth keeping. AND if there is no love then why strive to achieve a better tomorrow? Even that requires love, otherwise there would be no consideration for others, or for future generations ("love is not selfish").
haha i don't think I explained my point very well...
true, very true. i guess what i mean is that purely romantic love can hardly be described as love - it's so needy and selfish. of course, science with love to guide its application would be worthless and harmful.
