Technology…
It seems as though now-a-days that too many [insert social group or class of society] are becoming (too) dependant on technology. Sure enough without advances in technology we couldn’t have bigger houses and Internet (the very thing I’m writing on.)
On the other hand I don’t think we needed/wanted bigger wars. The drive to have that one special feature; bigger, smaller, faster, smarter, and stronger. This drive leads people to believe the outcome will be greater then the effort of input.
Especially the petty lengths people go to survive. The last time I checked, robbing a petrol station with a gun to get $500 fast easy cash did more harm than good.
Getaway car $15000
9mm calibre $200
Your life rotting away in jail, priceless (And while your in jail you can use the magic vision of hindsight to say “How fair is life?”)
The fantasy of owning a flying car would be nice. Although like many people I too have a lot of fantasies of unwarranted desires. No tax, no divorcés, no; “I’m sorry we can’t be friends because we let $25 get between us”.
The fact of the matter is;
Why do we need all of this technology?
To show off the latest gadgets that we can’t even work ourselves?
To keep up with the non- existent law which demands of remaining “cool” and “new”
The technology to be yourself?
I think I might buy that...

Isn't it funny how some of the most content people who truly enjoy their lives are the ones who do not have all this technology. People say that technology is needed to move forward...I sometimes wonder if we shouldn't be taking steps backward.
i don't know what to think about technology. on the one hand, i think it detracts [in some cases] from our humanity. like in the case of letter-writing vs. email. however, how humane is it to make it necessary for people to work in factories, doing mindless repetative jobs their whole lives, that a robot could have done just as well?
technology gives the delusion that you need these things in life to live. which is not the case at all.
my boyfriend thinks that a robot government would be the only way to keep corruption out of the power-holding parties. just throwing that out for your consideration.
someone has to make the robots, and control them - the only difference is that the people behind them remain nameless. Lol robots in government...no, I think we need people with compassion and humility. And a lot of other things.
i agree with what chris said - we really need very little to survive, and we'd probably be a lot happier too. We just think we need these things for easier living because that is what we are used to.
although i don't agree with the idea of a robot government myself, it's a purely hypothetical scenario because the people who programmed it would have to be completely uncorrupt when they programmed it. however, an uncorrupt human government is also purely hypothetical, for the same obvious reasons.
i've been wondering what would happen to the economic and social ambition of the people if robot really controlled the state and enforced law and order. because the desire to attain power drives a whole lot of institutions.
wow a robot government. if they were programmed to do just their job, then it would work and it would be consistent.
its greed that leads to power that leads to everybody losing.
