The AYWF Debate #1!!

Hey everyone!!

I've been thinking about this for a while and I've finally decided! We are going to start the first ever debate topic. This is how it's going to work. I write the topic in the post and then everybody creates a discussion in the 'comments' section. Keep in mind that ONLY debate posts may have discussion comments (we don't want to flood every single post). Also, feel free to begin your own debate topic but PLEASE try and space them out.

Anyone can comment, you can remain anonymous and there will be no swearing, flaming, spamming of any kind.

Topic: People have the right to live, do they also possess the right to die?

It's honestly hard to say, because there is always a reason for a voluntary death. But I suppose if there is so much suffering and pain that someone does not want to have weighing them down, perhaps they should possess the right to death?

I agree in that its hard to say. I believe every person has a right to decide if they live or die ... some commit suicide so theyre taking death into there own hands because of the suffering thats occured in their life. Its not like someone could say "no, youre not aloud to die" i guess if they are in pain whether it be physical or emotion if it is painful enough then i guess they should have the right to die.

i agree with you, but then you cant help but think 'maybe you should be restricted the right' because help is always there, its just that they have given up. death stops pain only for one person, then the rest of the family will suffer.

so yes i think we should have the right to die, but its got to be when your at an unbearable loss.

but chris help is not always there, some people find that help is always the hardest thing to find.

thats true, but how can you know when to give up on someone who's given up? theres no perfect time to say "ok youve suffered, i allow you to die." or "no you can push harder to get through this"

in all rights you shouldnt give up on someone and they should never give up on life because you can always turn things around and create a more happy memory ... people choose to end there own life because of pain right .. i understand if it was physical and they new that they were gonna suffer for rest of life then yeh by all rights if they want to die then they should be allowed but through mental pain .. things can turn around and if people are willing to help and accept them for who they are and what they have gone through then the person suffering should be able to see that they to can serve a happier life and create a goal in life.

there would be other reasons for suicide, such as boredom, maybe life just isnt as 'fruitful' as it used to be, there never really has to be pain and suffering for a reason for death.
the idea came from a book im reading its called veronika decides to die. its about a girl who thinks shes just over life. theres nothing to look forward to cause her days are just so repetitive...so why not die?
