The man who was second best.

Everyone loves the winner. He tries so hard and often is followed by a remarkable success story. Who deserves the winning trophy more than the winner himself? I don't have anything against winners, but the person who comes runner-up will always take my heart. The person who was known for trying and not succeeding and still manages to hold his head up high. He is proud, because he simply tried. He failed and he works harder. He loses but he isn't a loser. So to every runner-up in the world, be proud of not succeeding the first time, but never accepting failure, because it is you who keeps me going in the end. Thanks.

I don't know...you're making a pretty big generalisation. A lot of second place people are greedy and ambitious and never win because their heart isn't truly in it. A lot of people quit because they don't win. A lot of second placers don't hold their heads up high, but low in disappointment, jealousy or even resentment.
And a lot of winners had to fail many times before reaching their goal, and they haven't given up. They kept trying, and it actually paid off for them. I think winners are inspirational. They've often had to fight harder; had to overcome difficulties; and had to keep trying. Winners show that your goals are achievable, no matter what your circumstance. Winners show that there is always hope, and that there is something worth trying for - something which makes you aim higher and try harder. I don't think that's a bad thing. I look to winners, because they show me that my own goals are possible.

It is realistic to suggest that the "Worthiest" person did not come second but first. Yes, they can fall but they get back up and try again. When i think of winners, i think of the gold medalist's of the Opymics, the four years of training they did to get that one opportunity to achieve. Winners prove that hard work and deterination paids off therefore sobbing about coming 2nd(and onwards) causes more embrassment rather than the whole
"Well the better person won on the day"
(which doesnt explain the drug cheats who are suppose to be role models)
or even "Better luck next day/year/time"

Simple but clear post.

In a time of super-professionism and technology, society has become very result-oriented.
