2007

nothing profound here, i'd just like to know what you guys read over 2007, which books you enjoyed the most, which you thought were well-written, which changed the way you think, which the rest of us might enjoy... come to think of it, don't limit yourself to books. movies and albums of 2007 would be interesting to hear about as well. and what are you planning to read/watch/listen to in 2008?

i suppose i should answer my own question. let's see...

in 2007 i read 1984, by George Orwell, and Crime and Punishment, by Dostoyevsky. what can i say? these books are brilliant. Crime and Punishment, especially, posed some hard questions about the way society progresses, ethics, self-awareness, conscience.

in 2007 i listened a lot of whimsical, quirky, but overall happy indie music, as well as my beloved beethoven.

-christine fellows
-bright eyes
-lick the tins
-margot and the nuclear so and sos
-anchor and braille
-eisley
-blonde redhead
-keane [not indie, i know]
-bradley hathaway
-the autumns
-the klaxons
-u2 [also definitely not indie, but you have prolly figured out that i am in love with their music]

oops, i forgot about anberlin. can't forget them. the particular albums that i found amazing were;

cities -anberlin
achtung baby and pop - u2
paper anniversary - christine fellows
23 -blonde redhead

that last one makes me feel like i am on drugs. i know exactly what you mean chris.

if you'll forgive two long replies, i might just continue on and list films. most of them are eighties-coming-of-age films [as i like to call them].

-some kind of wonderful
-benny and joon
-the science of sleep

speaking of 2007
the agenda that most grabbed my attention was politics

I think the instatement of rudd is going to change the way we live ... for the better

also the almost fresh and new electro/house club scene seens to be on a rise

as lizzy pointed out i too also read the (ridiculously) long 1984 story of big brother by George Orwell

the ablum i enjoyed the most in '07 was
"One Love : Mobile Disco"
U2 is good, the 20th anniversary edition of the joshua tree apparently is better than the original.

myspace and msn also corrupted my sleep time as did movies in 2005 brought at $10 dvd's (sin city in particular.) although my fav movie is i am legend

I sometimes i wondered during '07 what '08 will bring...
